Castle Rock is the county seat of Douglas County and is a city within the Denver metro area. Located just 30 miles south of Denver and less than 40 miles north of Colorado Springs, Castle Rock was incorporated in May of 1881. Castle Rock is home to open spaces, luscious hills, beautiful homes and great shopping. This small and quaint town was founded in 1874 by a homesteader named Jeremiah Gould. He donated 120 acres to the new town and six streets later, Castle Rock was put on the map. The population is just over 50,000 and lies at over 6,000 feet above sea level.
Over 65% of households are married couples and over 48% of households have children under the age of 18. Castle Rock is a short commute from the Denver Technological Center, known as the “Denver Tech Center” or “DTC”.
The magazine Family Circle’s “10 Best Towns for Families” ranked Castle Rock as number one in the nation due to “big city opportunities with suburban charm” and “an ideal blend of affordable houses, good jobs, top-rated schools, wide-open spaces and a lot less stress.”
The city is centered around Castle Rock Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature course built in 1981. If you have a golfer in the family, you can also practice your swing at Red Hawk Ridge golf course. Not only is Castle Rock well-known for “The Rock”, but it’s also home to a popular shopping center called the Outlets at Castle Rock. The historic downtown of Castle Rock is filled with quaint shops and one-of-a-kind restaurants.
Castle Rock’s offerings consist mostly of large custom designer homes. There are various different neighborhoods in Castle Rock such as The Meadows, Plum Creek, and Red Hawk where you can hang your hat and call home. Castle Rock offers many perks for a young family who wants to live in the Denver Metro Area without the hassle of living in the city.
