History / Description
Douglas County is one of the original 17 counties that belonged to the Colorado Territory, as established by the Colorado Territorial Legislature on November 1, 1861. The county was named in honor of U.S. Senator Stephen A. Douglas of Illinois.

For outdoor lovers the County will offer Rueter–Hess Reservoir, that will provide significant recreation including fishing, hiking, and non-motorized boating when filled.
Cities in Douglas County include: part of Aurora and Littleton and Castle Pines (Castle Pines North), Lone Tree and Castle Rock. This towns have desirable residential areas, shopping centers, but also lovely restaurants, coffee shops and bars for all tastes and preferences.
