Lowry is a neighborhood that is rich in history. There are many traces of pre and post-World War II Americana present in this neighborhood of Denver. It’s this charm that keeps Lowry at the top of the list when it comes to living in Denver.
In March of 1996, the $40 billion, 30-month project began with the demolition of the runways. New home construction began in October of 1997. In September of 1999, The Jackie Robinson Baseball Field was dedicated, creating the centerpiece for the Lowry parks plan. Construction of the Lowry Town Center began in July, 2001. The redevelopment was tagged with the slogan, “Old Ideals, New Ideas” by The Lowry Redevelopment Authority (LRA). The LRA is a nonprofit entity created by the cities of Aurora and Denver to develop the Lowry base redevelopment plan, and is responsible for land planning, engineering, environmental cleanup, parks construction and property sales. Lowry offers many hiking and biking trails for the people who love the outdoors. In addition, Lowry contains the Common Ground Golf Course and Montclair Recreation Center. For shopping and dining, you can shop at The Lowry Town Center which offers chain stores and restaurants in addition to small stores and restaurants.
Lowry was named the most expensive zip code in Denver in 2006, despite sagging home sales across the county. In 2008, Lowry homes topped the metro market for appreciation. Lowry remains in the top five most expensive zip codes in the metro area. The most recent project is Boulevard One at Lowry, consisting of not larger, but smarter homes surrounded by art, trails, a library, cafes and shops.
