Belcaro is named for Lawrence C. Phipps’ mansion, though the mansion is now more commonly known as Phipps’ Mansion. Phipps was a U.S. Senator, representing Colorado from 1919-1931, and a treasurer of Carnegie Steel.
Belcaro’s boundaries are Cherry Creek and Alameda Avenue to the north, Colorado Boulevard to the east, East Mississippi Avenue to the south and South University Boulevard to the west.
Filled with streets that don’t conform to Denver’s grid system, Belcaro is home to City of Brest Park, City of Karmiel Park and Cherry Creek Park along with the Belcaro Shopping Center. Businesses within the shopping center include everything from banks to restaurants to insurance agents, offering almost anything a resident could need within a few minute walk or bicycle ride. Mature trees and maintained landscaping make that walk or ride even more pleasant.
Belcaro is close to other neighborhoods like Cherry Creek and Bonnie Brae. The residents of Belcaro enjoy taking advantage of shopping and dining at the nearby Cherry Creek Shopping Center. It’s also less than a fifteen minute drive from Downtown Denver so there are even more shopping and dining options nearby.
Belcaro is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Denver, with an average household income nearly three times that of Denver as a whole. Synonymous with luxury and wealth, Belcaro draws families and empty-nesters with the taste and income to appreciate the finer things in life. Belcaro is mostly composed of ranch styled homes but there are a few two-story homes that you can find in this neighborhood. Belcaro is neither Cherry Creek nor Bonnie Brae, but the gorgeous homes and easy access to other neighborhoods make this neighborhood a wonderful place to live.
