Greenwood Village
Greenwood Village
During the 1940’s Greenwood Village consisted of farmers, suburbanites and Denver residents who kept “summer homes” in the area. Concerned about urban sprawl, residents voted 76-64 to incorporate the area and name it after the area’s largest farm, Greenwood Ranch. Despite the small margin win to incorporate the city, Greenwood Village has continued to flourish as a city with many opportunities for businesses and families. Today, Greenwood Village, in Arapahoe County, is directly south of Denver and has become a mix of residential and urban areas, including business parks.
Recreational and educational activities include sport and art activities, art exhibits, outdoor concerts, and lectures. The village’s parks system includes parks, playgrounds and pedestrian, equestrian and bicycle trails throughout the village. Greenwood Village boasts 162 restaurants and 143 retail shops. Wildlife in the village includes raccoon, foxes, coyotes, rabbits, prairie dogs, deer and skunks.
At the heart of Greenwood Village is DTC, the Denver Tech Center. Commuters to the area bring the daytime population from around 13,000 people to more than 70,000 people. Notable companies with office at DTC include Sprint, DHL Express, Dow Jones & Company, EchoStar Communications, Boeing, JP Morgan, Kraft, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Nestle, Nextel, Oracle Corporation, SAP, Scientific Atlanta, Starz Entertainment, Time Warner Cable, and Western Union. United Cablevision, United Artists Cable, and AT&T Broadband all started at DTC. DTC covers 850 acres and 25 million square feet of buildings.
Greenwood Village is home to some prestigious neighborhoods with beautiful homes. When work and play isn’t at the forefront, Greenwood Village is a five minute drive from Park Meadows Mall and 20 minutes away from Downtown Denver. If you want to stay local, you can enjoy many of the shops and restaurants around the town center. To live in the lap of luxury is to simply live in Greenwood Village.
