Phil Mickelson won the U.S. Amateur at Cherry Hills CC in 1990, and Steven Fox won the U.S. Amateur there in 2012. The 1993 U.S. Senior Open held at Cherry Hills CC was won by Jack Nicklaus. Birdie Kim won the U.S. Women's Open hosted by Cherry Hills CC in 2005. PGA championships were hosted by Cherry Hills CC in 1941 and 1985. It is said that Arnold Palmer first ordered his signature drink of half iced tea, half lemonade at the Cherry Hills CC while there to win the 1960 U.S. Open.
